Student Elective Opportunities

FPHC HEMS ELECTIVES 2021:The Faculty has arranged with The Air Ambulance Service (TAAS) and the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance Trust (EHAAT) for successful medical student applicants to spend a 4-week elective experiencing a HEMS based PHEM system. Please send your completed application electronically to fphc@rcsed.ac.uk to be received by 1600 hours on Monday 21 September 2020. The decision will be made and the successful applicant notified no later than Monday 12 October 2020.

Administration of Methoxyflurane (Penthrox™) as a Pre-Hospital Analgesic by Specialist Police Officers; A Retrospective Audit of Patient Report Forms.

Providing Specialist police officers with early lifesaving medical skills has occurred over the last decade and is subject to individual case audit, which demonstrated the need for the safe provision of analgesia. This study reports the use of Methoxyfluorane (Penthrox™) by non-registered providers and demonstrates its effectiveness in providing quality pain relief.

Update on the upcoming Crowd Doctor & Practitioner Course

10 August 2020

The Faculty of Pre-Hospital Care has taken the difficult decision to postpone the upcoming Crowd Doctor & Practitioner Course, due to take place in September 2020. We will release the dates for the next course as soon as these arrangements have been made. Practitioners who may have been planning to renew their qualification this year should apply for a ‘letter of comfort’ for employment purposes to the faculty office.
