Welcome from the North West Regional Representatives!

We are committed to improving awareness, accessibility and education surrounding the topic of pre-hospital emergency care. Whether you are a registered healthcare professional, an emergency responder, student or are just interested in the topic – we hope to provide something for you.

Dr Jack Lyon

Dr Greg Smith

Andrew Gant

Jack is an Emergency Medicine Trainee in the Greater Manchester region.

With a keen interest in Pre-hospital Emergency Medicine, Jack holds multiple roles beyond his training responsibilities. He provides medical support at various events, including music concerts, festivals, and football matches, as well as in motorsport. In his free time, he volunteers with the North West Ambulance Service as a Community First Responder.

Jack is an instructor on ALS and MIMMS courses and serves as an ambassador for the IMPACT group.

Recently, Jack established a regional teaching group, the ‘North West Pre-hospital Education Forum’. This group is open to all who are interested in PHEM and offers educational sessions led by clinicians from the North West on a wide range of topics.

 

Greg is an Emergency Medicine Trainee based in Liverpool.

In addition to this, Greg also works as a Motorsport Doctor and has completed a Clinical Fellowship with EMRTS in Wales, where he has ongoing involvement with the service as a Research Fellow. His specific interests are in Emergency Medicine, Critical Care and Prehospital Care.

Greg holds the DipIMC RCSEd qualification and is an Advanced Practitioner with the FPHC. He has an interest in Undergraduate and Postgraduate medical education and has completed a PGCert in Medical Education. He is also an RCUK ALS instructor.

Greg also volunteers for charities involved in the management and prevention of prehospital emergencies in the North West, including Knifesavers and Docbike.

Andy is a Paramedic with the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) at NWAS, with extensive experience in prehospital care.

Previously, he has worked as a Senior Paramedic Team Leader. He is also a guest lecturer on the MoD's Paramedic Practice course and an RCUK Advanced Life Support Instructor.

Prior to his paramedic career, Andy spent six years with the RNLI. He now sits on the Faculty of Pre-Hospital Care Clinical Standards Committee, contributing to the development of clinical guidelines and standards for prehospital practice.”

Kuldeep Matharu

Student Regional Representative

Kuldeep is an F1 in Merseyside with interests in PHEM and Major Trauma.
At medical school he was the teaching secretary for the Wilderness Medicine society and intercalated in Urgent and Emergency Care.
Kuldeep is also a CFR for WMAS and help provide medical cover at Reading and Glastonbury.
His hobbies include running, hiking and buying coffee.
