The course covers the curriculum through a multimodality learner centred approach including pre course reading, discussions to deliver clarity, hands on practical skill acquisition and application through simulation. Knowledge, skill acquisition and application are assessed through continual formative and summative assessment processes.
The course is delivered by experienced faculty from the Faculty of Pre-Hospital Care including experienced crowd doctors, nurses and paramedics. The teaching faculty aims for the courses to be enjoyable, supportive and non-threatening, to respect and build on candidates’ prior experience through a learner centred approach, engaging them in their own learning and encouraging self-reflection and development.
The Crowd Doctor & Practitioner Course is endorsed by the Faculty of Pre-Hospital Care being assessed on its curricula content, educational delivery, assessments and teaching faculty every four years. Candidate feedback is taken on every course and considered in the continued course development.
The course is run twice a year; September in the London area and March in the Yorkshire region. Applications are invited through the Faculty of Pre-Hospital Care Office of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. The current cost for new attendees and recertification attendees is £650.
