The Faculty of Pre-Hospital Care

Examinations

One of the founding aims of the Faculty was to maintain standards of practice in pre-hospital care. One way the Faculty achieves this is through the provision of professional examinations and academic programmes, in partnership with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, related to the clinical practice of pre-hospital care.

The professional examinations currently include:
• The Diploma in Immediate Medical Care
• The Diploma in Retrieval and Transfer Medicine
• The Fellowship in Immediate Medical Care

In addition to these examinations and programmes, the Faculty administers the Intercollegiate Board for Training in Pre-hospital Emergency Medicine and manages other professional development processes such as:

• The Certificate of FIMC Eligibility
• Accreditation as a Consultant (Level 8) Practitioner in Pre-hospital Emergency Medicine

The Intercollegiate Board for Training in Pre-hospital Emergency Medicine  is responsible for training and assessment in Pre-Hospital Emergency Medicine (PHEM) in the UK on behalf of its parent Colleges. You can find the PHEM curriculum by clicking on this link.
