Ivan Koay Regional Representative |
Prashant is an Anaesthetic registrar in NW London, currently working in the Major Trauma Centre at St Mary’s Hospital. At medical school and early postgraduate years, he was interested in pre-hospital emergency care and trauma stabilisation, and was involved in the running of the annual Imperial College Surgical Society Trauma Conferences as well as other resuscitation-based courses. After Anaesthesia Core Training, he worked several years in Australia which included a 6 month role as an Aeromedical Retrieval Registrar with the Royal Flying Doctors Service working closely with New South Wales Ambulance and Sydney HEMS teams. Having returned to London, he is keen to maintain his involvement with pre-hospital care, education and staff wellbeing.

Ivan is an experienced urgent care doctor with extensive expertise in secondary, urgent, and prehospital care, having worked within three distinct healthcare systems: the UK, New Zealand, and the Republic of Ireland. He currently serves as the medical lead for both the Kings College Hospital Urgent Treatment Centre and the Watford General Hospital Urgent Treatment Centre. His passion lies in out-of-hospital urgent and emergency care, particularly in developing pathways and initiatives to alleviate the pressures on busy emergency departments. As a fellow of the Royal New Zealand College of Urgent Care, Ivan boasts extensive international connections in the field of urgent care. He is a regular presenter and contributor at the Urgent Care Association of USA annual conventions and actively contributes to the College of Urgent Care Medicine US publications. Additionally, he serves as the editor of abstracts in urgent care for the Journal of Urgent Care Medicine—the world’s only peer-reviewed publication solely dedicated to urgent care. Ivan is highly committed to the training and education of the next generation of urgent care clinicians. He supervises registrars who are working towards their fellowship in urgent care with the Royal New Zealand College of Urgent Care and has previously played a pivotal role in developing the Master’s in Nursing Urgent Care Programme at University College Dublin. He continuously seeks innovative methods to deliver essential skills and knowledge in urgent care. In his personal time, Ivan enjoys traveling, exploring diverse cuisines, and reading.

Aaliyar Ashar Student Regional Representative Aaliya is a fifth-year medical student currently intercalating in Pre-Hospital Medicine at Barts. She is a student on the Trauma Sciences and Care of Injured Patient Programme (TSCIPP) as well as a committed member of BL Women in Healthcare. She’s an avid baker and lover of the outdoors! |
