The Centre for Post-Collision Research, Innovation and Translation (IMPACT) recently held the final stage of their Priority Setting Partnership (PSP) in partnership with the Faculty of Pre-hospital Care (FPHC) at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. A workshop, supported by Transport Scotland, brought together experts in post-collision research, pre-hospital care providers, and patients with lived experience. They worked together to produce a document of their Top 10 outstanding priority questions for further research regarding road injury. This document will guide research projects and funding into in these areas, with the shared goal to improve survival for those involved in road traffic incidents.
Two pre-hospital care responders said this about the event:
“Thank you for setting this up, I had such a great day, learnt so much and am incredibly inspired by the discussion. Having members of the public in attendance reminded me of why we do what we do.”
"It was incredible to have a group of people with such varied experience and expertise in the room. I learnt a huge amount…I’m excited to see what happens next! "
Speaking after the event, FPHC Chair Dr Pam Hardy said:
“Huge thanks to IMPACT for choosing to partner with the Faculty of Pre-hospital Care to deliver this Priority Setting Workshop and we were delighted to host this at the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh. This was a very intense and focused day to drill down to the final Top 10 and it was a privilege to be part of the group.
FPHC are immensely grateful to all who took part and to Transport Scotland for their support.”
IMPACT are publishing their report following the PSP and will be writing to Road Safety UK, so keep an eye out on their website for updates!
