This comprehensive statement provides updated guidelines and best practices for safely and effectively extricating individuals from vehicles post-collision, aiming to improve patient outcomes and enhance the safety of both patients and first responders.
The consensus statement is the result of extensive research and collaboration among leading experts in the field. It addresses critical aspects of extrication, including the latest techniques, equipment recommendations, and protocols to minimise further injury during the extrication process.
In conjunction with this publication, The Faculty of Pre-hospital Care, with our multi-professional membership, is delighted to be supporting IMPACT, which exists to ‘further the scientific study of factors which affect patient and bystander outcomes following road related trauma.’
This fits with our goals of contributing to the research agenda in pre-hospital care and engagement in the development of clinical policy through review of clinical evidence.
Professor Tim Nutbeam, Fellow member of the FPHC and director of IMPACT said: “we are delighted to partner with the FPHC - accelerating our shared goal of improving patient outcomes and shaping safer roads globally. We look forward to benefitting from the expertise within the FPHC and working together on advancing research and innovation in post-collision care.”
The new consensus statement is now available for download on the FPHC website. Both FPHC and IMPACT encourage all stakeholders to review the guidelines and integrate them into their practices to improve patient outcomes and safety.
