Student & Junior Trainee Group - Executive Committee Elections

The Faculty of Pre-Hospital Care Student and Junior Trainee is a group of students and junior professionals within the fields of medicine, nursing, and paramedicine, who are committed to developing and extending opportunities in training and education for careers in pre-hospital emergency medicine (PHEM). As a committee of the Faculty of Pre-Hospital Care RCSEd the primary focus is to extend the work of the Faculty into the realms of students and junior trainees to help promote opportunities and training of the highest standard, and available as widely as possible.

The Executive Committee consists of Chair, General Secretary, and Treasurer. They are responsible for the overall running of the group and work together with the regional representatives to implement the aims of the group.

The committee’s primary objectives are:

  •   Developing and disseminating standards and guidance on pre-hospital education for students and juniors.
  •   Supporting the creation and advancement of local, regional, and national pre-hospital education initiatives.
  •   Connecting junior stakeholders on a regional and national level to promote and enhance their activities.
  •   Providing a conduit for communication between students/juniors and the Faculty’s senior leadership.

The Student and Junior Trainee Group has elected their Chair for 2021 in the person of Molly Greenaway. Applications are now open for the positions of: General Secretary & Treasurer.

Secretary: The role of the Secretary is to support the Chair in ensuring the smooth functioning of the FPHC Student and Junior Trainee Committee.

The Secretary is responsible for:

Ensuring meetings are effectively organised and minute:

  • Liaising with the Chair to plan meetings
  • Receiving agenda items from Committee members
  • Circulating agendas and reports
  • Taking minutes
  • Circulating approved minutes
  • Checking that agreed actions are carried out

Maintaining effective records and administration:

  • Keeping up-to-date contact details for the Committee and the Regional Representatives
  • Filing minutes and reports
  • Compiling lists of names and addresses that are useful to the Committee, including those of appropriate officials or officers of voluntary organisations
  • Keeping a record of the Committee's activities
  • Keeping a diary of future activities.

Communication and correspondence:

  • Monitoring the Committee’s primary email address
  • Maintaining the Committee’s Facebook Group in accordance with RCSEd protocols
  • Keeping a record of any of the Committee's publications (e.g. conference flyers)
  • Reporting the activities of the Committee and future programmes to the FHPC Executive
  • Preparing a report of the Committee's activities for the year, for the FPHC AGM.

Treasurer: The role of the Treasurer is to manage the budget of the group throughout the year ensuring that funds are adequately distributed amongst suitable events and initiatives. The treasurer must:

  • Ensure an up to date spreadsheet is maintained throughout the year with incomings and outgoings
  • Communicate with the rest of the committee the funding status by preparing status updates for meetings
  • Manage the online funding request form
  • Manage the requests for funding appropriately and in a timely manner
